Finished reading this the other day:
We're all familiar with great British-type funnybook writers like Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, Warren Ellis or Garth Ennis. This book is is by one of my favorites, whose often overlooked or forgotten when talking about great writers (and it's illustrated by the great Duncan Fegredo too). The premise is kinda hard to explain, all I can say to reccomend it is: Genius.
For those unfamiliar with Mr. Milligan's work, check out some of these fine pieces:
Psychological thriller, action film, "crime noir", this one's genre defining, but quite brilliant. It's also illustrated by Edvin Biukovic, who was one of the best artists around before he sadly died from a brain tumor if I recall correctly. Check it out.
This is like Goodfellas meets Bladerunner. Sci-fi gangsters is the easiest way to describe it, but as with all Milligan's stuff, it's much too deep to summarize briefly.
This one's pretty old, and I think its the only trade collection of the long-running (50 to 70) issues done by Milligan. The artwork in the beginning is a little crude, but after a while Chris Bachalo hits his stride and it gets great. Shade is basically a crazy person with super powers. Hilarity ensues.
Something a little more mainstream, but cooler than most stuff around. In this title Pete teamed up with Mike "Madman" Allred for the craziest "X"-book ever. Good stuff.
There's lots more great Milligan stuff out there. Check him out. You wont be dissappointed.
